The World health organization on Thursday said the ongoing vaccination campaign across the world is commendable.

The UN Health body, stated that the pace of the vaccination drive in Africa, has been slowed, which it feared may affect the population as countries on the continent head for a third wave of infection.

Dr. Richard Mihigo – Programme Area Manager, Immunization and Vaccine Development for WHO Africa regional office -during a virtual briefing said nearly 7.7million people have been inoculated and more doses of the vaccines are expected to arrive in the coming days.

South Sudan having received its first shipment of the AstraZeneca vaccine under the covax facility on Thursday – leaves behind ten other countries in Africa that are yet to receive a single dose of the vaccine – said Maihigo.
