Mali’s judiciary and health workers embark on a warning strike

Two key sectors of the country have embarked on a five-day warning strike renewable by Monday next week.

The Judiciary and health sectors strike according to the general secretary of the Union of Public Administration Workers, Issa Sékou Sidibé, is to demand compensation for participation in the judiciary.

Sidibe said his union is claiming a single point of the granting of compensation for participation in the judiciary, the very first work of which began in 2017.

The secretary-general told journalists in Bamako that following negotiations that took place in December 2022, the members of the conciliation commission asked for a moratorium period until January.

The union however regrets the rejection of the documents by the finance minister that was prepared for the draft decree concerning the granting of the allowance for workers in the justice sector.

At the same time, the national union for health, social action and the promotion of the family of the Gabriel Touré hospital also commenced an indefinite strike on Monday to demand the improvement of the dilapidated technical platform.
