Bouaré Fily Sissoko, Mali’s former Minister of Economy and Finance, has been admitted to an emergency unit in Bamako following a medical breakdown.
Sissoko, jailed since 2021 without trial, is being prosecuted over alleged financial mismanagement during the Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta administration, including the controversial purchase of a presidential aircraft.
She is also accused of involvement in the over-invoicing of military equipment worth 130 billion CFA francs.
Calls for her release were rejected last week by the Supreme Court, fueling concerns about her prolonged detention and deteriorating health.
