Authorities in northern Mali have suspended the salaries of 151 teachers due to prolonged absences.

The decision comes amid an education crisis, with 53% of schools in Menaka closed due to insecurity.

Officials had warned the teachers in February, giving them until March 3 to return.

The salary suspension takes effect on April 1, 2025. Abdullahi Hassan reports.
