Private technical and Vocational schools in Mali will from November 6, embark on a 5-day strike across the country. The promoters of these private schools are demanding that the government pay the school fees of pupils referred to them by the Ministry of Education.
Pupils in Mali are being sent to private technical and vocational schools when public schools can no longer accommodate them. Soundie Traoré, a member of the group of associations of public-school promoters in Mali said these establishments have called for a work stoppage until they receive full payment of the money owed to them by the state, up to 56 billion CFA francs for this academic year.
The Ministry of Education has yet to react to this call for a strike by the learning institutions.
