In Mali, the country’s new Prime Minister, General Abdoulaye Maïga, has met with members of his civil cabinet, as well as the Prime Minister’s defense cabinet.
Also present at the meeting were special advisers, technical advisors and mission managers.
During the meeting, the new Prime Minister, who was appointed a day after Choguel Kokalla Maïga, his predecessor, was dismissed, announced a “technical reorientation” aimed at realising the vision of the Head of State, General Assimi Goïta.
Choguel Maïga had been in office since June 2021 following the “rectification” of the Transition by the military in May of the same year, had seen his relations deteriorate with the colonels in power since the August 2020 coup d’état.
However, in early November 2024, the former Prime Minister publicly denounced his exclusion.
