Several women groupings in Liberia are appealing to members of the Legislature not to remove the 30 percent women representation clause from the New Elections law of Liberia.
In 2014, the legislature amended session 4.5 of the Elections Law mandating all political parties or coalitions to endeavor to ensure 30 percent of its candidates during an election are female.
But as Darlington Porkpa reports from Monrovia, the national legislature is seeking to amend the law by removing this clause, something women in the country strongly oppose.
