Liberia’s Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Thomas Fallah, has called for peace and reconciliation in Lofa County, following divisions stemming from the 2023 election-related violence. The appeal was made during a peace dialogue aimed at fostering harmony between supporters of the ruling Unity Party (UP) and the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).
The northwestern region of Lofa County, which has been a hotspot for political tensions, is now the focus of efforts to rebuild unity. Both President Joseph Boakai and Deputy Speaker Fallah are set to lead similar reconciliation discussions across the county to promote healing and solidarity among citizens.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to bridging political divides and ensuring a peaceful coexistence as Liberia moves forward from its recent electoral challenges.
