Liberia Supreme Court has upheld a Lower Court’s guilty verdict against former Defense Minister Brownie Samukai and his two deputies for stealing pension benefits belonging to personnel of the armed forces of Liberia.
In March 2020, the former officials were found guilty by Criminal Court ‘C’ of acts of corruption, but they took exception to the ruling and filed an appeal to the Supreme Court.
Following a review of the judgment by the lower court, the supreme court upheld the ruling against the former government officials and asked them to refund the stolen money or risk a two-year jail term.
