Women’s rights activists in Liberia have criticised the nomination and subsequent inauguration of Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemaya as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia.
He faces allegations of sexual harassment during his time as Liberia’s Representative to the United Nations.
The Senate subjected him to scrutiny but later controversially confirmed him while encouraging his alleged victim to seek redress in the courts, a decision that has angered he activists in the country.
Naomi Tulay-Solanke is a feminist and Executive Director of the Community Health Care Initative in the capital Monrovia.
She gave this reaction to the endorsement of Kemaya as Liberia’s foreign minister amid the allegations against him.
