The Law Commission of Senegal will convene today to review the amnesty bill, the details of which have now been disclosed.
According to a decree signed on March 1st, the amnesty law aims to alleviate the social and political climate while enhancing national cohesion.
The text notes that certain legal proceedings have resulted in convictions leading to incapacities and disqualifications related to voting and election rights.
With this in mind, the bill proposes amendments for offenses committed in Senegal and abroad between 2021 and 2024.
