The Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto has criticised the current state of the African Union describing it as dysfunctional and not fit for purpose.

According to him, the executive body of the union has no accountability mechanism thereby making it difficult for the continental bloc to work for the people on the continent. 

He made the assertions during an engagement with the business community at the Africa Continental Free Trade Area headquarters in Ghana’s capital, Accra where he is on a state visit.
