Campaign activities in Ghana have been suspended following the death of the country’s former President Jerry John Rawlings. The 73 year old former head of state passed away on Thursday morning at the Korle Bu teaching hospital after a short illness.
The country was thrown into a state of shock after the news broke, resulting in the declaration of 7 days of morning with all flags to fly at half-mast by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson reports that family of Mr. Rawlings have met with the President ADDO at Jubilee house to officially inform him of the death with a state burial expected in the coming months.
