The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) has released a report highlighting the critical challenges facing Senegal’s small-scale fishing industry.
The report underscores the alarming threat posed by foreign bottom trawlers that are overexploiting Senegalese waters.
This overexploitation has resulted in a severe scarcity of fish, forcing many local fishermen to abandon their traditional livelihoods and turn to illegal immigration as a means of survival.
