Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has formed a 13-member committee responsible for assessing the country’s border needs. This “Integrated Border Governance Committee” comprises members from various government agencies, including the Ministry, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service, Border Community Development Agency, Community Boundary Commission, and an external consultant.
The committee’s primary task is to develop a comprehensive plan to enhance border security across Nigeria. They have been given a timeline of 18 weeks to deliver their findings and recommendations.
