The International Monterey Fund (IMF) is urging advanced economies in the G20 to extend and improve debt relief initiatives to poorer countries.

It warned that, many countries would face a dire crisis without the aid.

The agency also noted that, without a renewal of the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI), which should expire at the end of the year, countries would face financial pressure.
