Human Rights lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu has described as retrogressive the death sentence handed to six persons found guilty of accusations of plotting to overthrow the government of Ghana.
They were sentenced on Wednesday for committing high treason and sentenced to death by hanging.
The Member of Parliament for the Madina constituency said the latest sentence is a dent in the progress Ghana has made in upholding human rights over the years.
He emphasized the need for Ghana to do more to take the death sentence off its books.
