The high dollar rate is pushing major pharmaceutical groups in the country to demand cash payment for supplies to health facilities in the country.
At a news conference in Accra the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Ghana, and the Pharmaceutical Importers & Wholesalers Association of Ghana, lamented the rising cost of production as a result of cedi depreciation. The local currency has been on a downward spiral over the past couple of months, losing over 45% of its value to the US Dollar.
