The Guinean government has formally admitted to disrupting mobile internet access and shutting down certain private radio stations in the country.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, the Minister for Budget clarified that this decision was made following an investigation that revealed the non-compliance of the affected media outlets with ethical standards and principles in their politically oriented broadcasts.
The Guinean Bloggers’ Association deems this move as oppressive and is pinning hopes on the forthcoming general strike organized by the Guinean trade union movement to advocate for internet access restoration and the reopening of the closed media organizations.
