Guinea: Gold mine landslide leaves 15 people dead

At least 15 people died in Guinea over the weekend when a gold mine near Siguiri in the north near Mali border collapsed. 

The detachment of an overhanging rock caused the collapse, according to witnesses.

The Red Cross on the scene reported at least 15 dead but this figure could rise as the search progresses. 

Local residents have expressed concern about the recurrence of deadly rock falls on gold mining sites in Guinea.
