In Guinea, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Sadiba Coulibaly, has warned that any soldier apprehended while traveling outside his unit, without authorization, will be immediately arrested and made available to the gendarmerie research brigade for investigation purposes.
Colonel Sadiba Coulibaly also ordered all unit commanders to carry out rigorous and unannounced checks every week.
This decision comes after sources reported that last week, a group of soldiers on patrol and elements of the presidential guard were involved in an incident. In his press release, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces said his directive was placed within the framework of the rigorous control of the personnel of the armed forces.
