Eligible voters in Liberia are preparing to return to the polls on November 14, 2023, for the presidential runoff elections as scheduled by the National Elections Commission.
The Commission’s Chairperson, Davidetta Brown Lansana, officially announced the commencement of campaign activities in the country on Tuesday.
She reiterated that, following the tally of all the votes cast on October 10, none of the 20 presidential candidates managed to secure the necessary 50 percent plus one vote required for an outright victory in the initial ballot.
As Liberians gear up to choose their leader for the next six years, regional governance experts believe that the election’s outcome truly represents the will of the voters, potentially limiting the incumbent’s chances of securing a second term in office.
