The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has made a strong statement regarding Africa’s stance on international pressure.
He emphasized that the continent will not be intimidated by veiled threats of investment withdrawal and international aid cuts, noting that such measures have not deterred Africa’s efforts to protect its culture, values, and societal norms, as well as secure the future of its youth.
Bagbin made these remarks during a meeting with members of the British House of Lords and the House of Commons in London.
This statement comes at a time when Ghana is facing Western superpower pressure to abandon a proposed bill that seeks to criminalize members of the LGBTQ+ community in the country.
