Ghana’s Parliament has agreed to form an ad-hoc committee to investigate the National Cathedral project and all related matters.
The motion filed by opposition members of parliament seeks to probe the stalled project and its expenditures estimated to the tune of 58 million US dollars.
Cutting the sod for the project in 2020, the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo said the project was necessary since an interdenominational national cathedral will help unify the Christian community and thereby help promote national unity and social cohesion.
But as WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson in Accra reports, the project has faced challenges, with work having grounded to a halt a year ago.
