Ghana’s Parliament is set to pass the Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill after Effutu MP and deputy majority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin abandoned amendments for community service to replace custodial sentences for convicted homosexuals in the anti-gay bill.

The anti-LGBTQ+ bill sponsored by eight private Members of Parliament led by Ningo Prampram constituency MP, Samuel Nartey George, was expected to be passed last week but was blocked by Afenyo-Markin who proposed several new amendments.

From Accra, WADR’s Naa Dedei Tettey reports.
