Ghana’s national power company goes on disconnection exercise to retrieve GH¢5bn debt

On Monday, the Electricity Company of Ghana started an extensive disconnection exercise to mobilize revenue.

The company is owed close to 500 million USD from September 2022 to February 2023 and most of the debt comes from state-owned enterprises and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies 

On day one of the disconnection exercises, the company recovered over 1.5 million US Dollars from three state institutions including the Ghana Broadcasting Company, GBC.
