In Ghana, the National Malaria control program is requesting more financial support in the fight against malaria. In 2020, the country recorded 308 mortalities from the disease, marking a 90% reduction from 2012.

However, to reach the point of zero prevalence, there is a need for greater investment, especially as the coronavirus pandemic has shifted focus from other medical ailments.

Public health specialist and an epidemiologist with the national Malaria control program Dr. Nana Yaw Peprah has been speaking to WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson.
