Research fellow at the Bureau of Integrated Rural Development at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is calling for the protection of unaccompanied child migrants.
Unaccompanied minor migrants are underage migrants, who for various reasons leave their country or homes and are separated from their parents or legal/customary guardians.
Some of them live entirely by themselves, while others join their relatives or other adults in a foreign country or region.
Speaking to WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson, Dr. Thomas Yeboah said while some reasons for migration inure to the benefit of the child, there is a need to ensure their rights are protected irrespective of their status.
