Members of Parliament of Ghana return to the Chamber today after months of recess for the second meeting of the Fourth Session.
The House was adjourned abruptly by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on March 20 after an extensive response to a letter from the Office of the President cautioning parliament to cease transmitting the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, known commonly as the Anti-Gay Bill.
The president, Nana Akufo-Addo, was expected to assent to the bill and make it law but that has since delayed.
During the recess, however, the House was reconvened on Friday, May 17, under an emergency order by the Speaker of Parliament, to discuss the approval of ministerial appointees and other “urgent matters.”
