The Ghana Water Company Limited is raising alarm over illegal mining activities popularly known as Galamsey, close to the Bunso Water Treatment Plant extraction point, in Akyem Abuakwa in the Eastern Region.

The activities of the miners have left the water company no option than to suspend operations following the alarming rise in turbidity of raw water sourced from the Birim River.
