Ghana: University of Ghana survey shows 40% of journalists experienced attacks

Findings from the University of Ghana’s School of Communications 2023 survey are shedding light on the challenges faced by journalists as the world celebrated radio on Tuesday.

The survey reveals that approximately 40 percent of journalists have encountered attacks while carrying out their duties. Moreover, a significant 70 percent of practitioners are aware of colleagues who have fallen victim to such attacks.

Dr. Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin, a Senior Lecturer at the Communications School, emphasized in an interview with local media that these incidents have instilled fear among journalists in the course of their responsibilities.
