The Ghana Water Company Limited has begun spilling excess water from the Weija dam. This follows heavy rains over the weekend which caused the dam to exceed its storage limit.
Residents around the Gbawe enclave have been asked to relocate to avoid the impact of the spillage.
According to the Ghana Water Company Limited, four out of the five water gates have been opened while the spillage is done gradually due to the current pressure level.
On its part, the National Disaster Management Organization has assured that measures have been put in place to prevent loss of lives during the spillage of the dam.
