A security analyst in Ghana is criticizing the government’s decision to deploy military to the country’s borders to enforce the ban on grain exports describing the move as a legacy of military rule and total disregard for the rule of law.
As part of efforts to ensure food sustainability in the drought season, the government imposed a ban on the export of grains, rice, and soybean to feed the local market.
However, according to security analyst and former military officer, Colonel retired Festus Aboagye, the deployment of the military is problematic since the borders are already manned by the customs and immigration officers.
