The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has reduced the margin on the price of fuel by 8 pesewas per litre. This reduction comes under 24 hours after the margin on prices of petroleum products took effect at the pumps and went up by 17 pesewas per litre. A litre of fuel now sells for over 1 dollar.
Following the increase, transport operators threatened to increase fares and motorists began agitating, prompting a meeting with stakeholders in the industry, who agreed to the reduction.
While the new price is to take effect on today, Wednesday, May 5, 2021, the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers – Ghana which was part of the meeting says any reduction is better than none at all. Duncan Amoah is executive Secretary of the Chamber.
