In Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo is under pressure to prove his innocence in the corruption allegation against the sacked minister of State, Charles Adu Boahen, for using his name to peddle influence and engage in corruption.
Akufo-Addo took the first step of firing the minister after transcripts of the now-aired latest documentary – Galamsey Economy – by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas became public.
Despite many welcoming the move to have the minister sacked, many, including the former UN governance advisor, Prof Baffour Agyeman Duah said the president must do more than sack the minister to prove his innocence following similar allegations made in the past.
