The Ghana Police Service has arrested 107 individuals in connection with violent incidents reported nationwide following the December 7, 2024, general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, the police highlighted a rise in post-election lawlessness, attributed to supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). These incidents included vandalism, assaults, and destruction of property in several regions.
The service has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, cautioning that it may deploy lawful force to curb further unrest if the attacks persist. The police urged citizens to remain calm and respect the democratic process as the country transitions to a new administration under President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities assuring the public of swift justice for perpetrators of election-related violence.
