A Circuit Court in Ghana has granted bail to 31 additional protesters involved in the anti-galamsey demonstration organized by Democracy Hub. Each individual has been released on a bond of 20,000 Cedis (approximately 1,256 US Dollars), with one surety required for their release.
This brings the total number of protestors granted bail to 52 out of the 53 detained, with the lead convener of Democracy Hub and activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, still yet to be granted bail.
However, the group claims that protesters remain in detention, criticizing what it describes as procedural delays in their release and accusing state authorities of intentional inefficiency.
