The United Press for Development Network, UPDN, has called on Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo to act on the elevation of the military officer complicit in the detention and abuse of some journalists in Accra.

Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman has been appointed the Commanding Officer of the 64 Infantry Battalion after his contract was terminated by the national security minister for inappropriate conduct following the arrest and assault of Citi News’Caleb Kudah, and the harassment of Zoe Abu Baidoo Addo, also a Citi FM journalist.

News of latest appointment came as a surprise to many who believe it flies in the face of justice and press freedom.

WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson reports.
