Ghana on March 6 celebrated the country’s 64th independence anniversary.

However, this year’s national celebration which took place at the forecourt of the presidency, was done on a lowkey due to the presence of the coronavirus.

President Nana Akufo Addo who didn’t inspect the guard of honor as is usually done said the Ghanaians are confident today after over six decades of self-rule.

The country’s first president and prime minister, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, on March 6, 1957 declared Ghana independent from the British colonial regime, making it the first African country to do so.

Here’s President Akufo Addo during the ceremony.
