President John Dramani Mahama has identified the African Union’s (AU) dependence on external financial assistance as a significant hurdle to its progress.
Speaking at a High-Level Retreat on AU Institutional Reforms in Nairobi, Kenya, on January 27, Mahama stressed the need for Africa to establish sustainable internal funding mechanisms.
He highlighted that such systems are crucial for the continent to independently drive its development agenda without external influence.
The retreat focused on addressing institutional challenges and empowering the AU to achieve its long-term goals.
