Ahead of the dissolution of Ghana’s 8th Parliament on Monday, January 6, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has endorsed The Right Honourable Alban Bagbin as Speaker for the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

In a statement signed by his Special Aide, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Mahama commended Bagbin’s exceptional parliamentary service and leadership, urging the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to re-nominate him. Bagbin, Ghana’s first Speaker from an opposition party, has played a pivotal role in fostering bipartisan collaboration in the 8th Parliament.

Mahama’s endorsement signals continuity and prioritization of parliamentary experience as the new administration transitions into power.
