The lead counsel for Ghana’s former President John Mahama, Tsatsu Tsikata has filed an application asking the Supreme Court to review its decision to disallow him from asking the Electoral Commission (EC) certain questions at the ongoing hearing of the 2020 election petition. This comes as the Supreme Court outlines key dates for the trial expected to start later this month.
The election petition is challenging the Electoral commission’s declaration of President Nana Akufo-Addo as winner of the December 7 Presidential election.
Addressing journalists after filing the review application, former Attorney General and Minister for Justice of Ghana Marrietta Brew Oppong Appiah who is spokesperson for the lawyers of John Mahama expressed concern that the Apex court was unduly fast-tracking the case.
