Ghana’s High Court’s Labour Division, 1, has slapped the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) with a cost of GHC 3000 after they failed to complete their processes, during a court case between the Association and the National Labour Commission.
The National Labour Commission is seeking contempt charges and sanctions against the leadership UTAG, following their decision to not call off their strike that commenced at the beginning of this month.
UTAG on the other hand, has accused the Labour commission of bad faith in serving as mediators between them and the government.
The Presiding Judge urged both parties to re-evaluate their positions and consider negotiating and reconciling. A two day period has been given for both parties to reach a conclusion and the case has been adjourned to Wednesday, August 18.
