Ghana is confident of reaching an agreement with a vendor for the establishment of its first nuclear power plant, with contenders including France’s EDF, U.S.-based NuScale Power, Regnum Technology Group, and China National Nuclear Corporation.

According to Dr. Stephen Yamoah, Executive Director of Nuclear Power Ghana (NPG), though no vendor has been selected yet, efforts towards the implementation of Ghana’s nuclear power project are ongoing.

He highlighted that two major agreements have been reached, but NPG has yet to sign a contract with any vendor for the project.

Dr. Yamoah also noted that financing has been a major challenge for the agency.
