The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana has placed a ban on the importation of poultry products and poultry feed from selected European countries into Ghana with immediate effect.

 This follows a confirmed outbreak of highly pathogenic Avian Infleunza type H5NI in those countries. The countries affected by the ban are The Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Denmark and The United Kingdom.

In a statement, the ministry said it took the decision upon advice from the Veterinary Services Directorate, and takes immediate effect.
