The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of The Gambia has voiced concern over a recent National Assembly vote blocking Gambians in the diaspora from registering to vote.

Lawmakers rejected a clause in the Election Bill 2021 that would have granted voting rights to Gambians abroad.

The NHRC is urging authorities to uphold inclusive electoral participation and ensure diaspora citizens are not disenfranchised.
