The Independent Electoral Commission IEC of the Gambia says it has instructed their lawyers to litigate petitions against the commission at the High Court of the Gambia.

This comes after rejected presidential aspirants Dr Ismaila Ceesay of Citizens Alliance CA and Independent Joseph Henry Joof filed a petition against the IEC at High Court for the rejection of their nominations.

The two candidates are seeking a reversal of the IEC’s decision while the commission maintains its decision that no rejected aspirants met the requirements to be qualified for the election.

Nene Gomez is the spokesperson of Citizens Alliance, the first party to file a petition.
