The Gambia Immigration Department has recently arrested five Senegalese nationals for migrant smuggling in the Gambian coastal town of Gunjur. The smugglers were intercepted while attempting to transport migrants to the Spanish Canary Islands.
Meanwhile, the immigration department also intercepted a migrant boat carrying dozens of people, including Malians and Senegalese.
Addressing the press, spokesperson for the Gambia Immigration Department Mamanding Dibbam, stated that this operation is part of recent efforts to combat the illicit act of people smuggling.
