The newly formed political party of Gambia’s Adama Barrow scored a major election victory over the weekend when it won a by-election in parliament.
The seat in the Niami East Constituency, North of the country became vacant after its occupant, Demba Sowe of Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) died in January after a brief illness.
The election was contested between GDC and the National People's Party (NPP).
It was the NPP’s first political contest since its formation earlier this year.
A spokesman of the party, Seedy Njie, has been telling WADR what this victory means for his party.
