The Network for African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRIs) has called for the prevention of torture and protection of vulnerable groups including the LGBTQ+ community.
They made the call as NANHRI began a four day forum to advocate for enhanced human rights protections across the continent in Banjul.
As the 81st Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights approaches, participants emphasized the urgent need for stronger legislative frameworks and effective enforcement mechanisms to combat torture, protect the vulnerable groups among others.
